Thinking about trans issues isn’t something I typically spend a whole lot of time on. Sure I have trans/intersex friends. One of them actually sent me this video. I’ve never heard someone making the distinction between sex and gender before. Where sex is more the genetics of it all, and gender is the sociological expectations that are placed on us because of our sex. It’s just kinda neat to think about it for a few moments and ponder it. I think this person is right, we do need to spend some time on it. I know I could certainly do more.
BTW, anyone know what “gender plunder” is?
This video touches base on ALOT of issues trans people have in todays society. I think its not accepted into the “normal” part of everybody’s lives because everybody thinks that its not right. its not normal. i myself am gay but have learned to accept it and my friends accept it as well as my family. but you NEVER hear about trans people in public. and i do believe that the suicide rate is very high in trans people today. because they are not accepted for who they are… they are expected to be who society wants them to be, which is uncalled for. i agree that there should be a gender neutral bathroom wherever the public may go so they can be accepted as “normal” americans. they have rights just like evrybody else does but they are often looked past because they are transexual. so, i agree with the maker of this video, which i would like to get in touch with, about all the issues with society not accepting trans people into life. if we all get together, we CAN make a difference and we CAN make this society more livable for the transexual people that live around us. i may be found at http://www.myspace.com/premilt09. thank you.
